Course overview

This course provides a basic understanding of the principles of halal process and auditing. This programme is designed to provide awareness to people who work a dairy processing plant. Trainees will gain an understanding of the definition and basic concepts of halal certification, primary processing and halal auditing.

Who should attend?

  • Those who are new to auditing or are likely to be involved in internal or external audits
  • Those who work in a primary processing plant and would like to improve their knowledge of halal auditing

Prerequisite

It is recommended trainees attend HALAL Awareness training prior to enrolment.

Trainees are required to be employed in the industry at the time of registration to support completion of this training.

Duration

This course is indicative of 36 hours of learning. This includes classroom time, self-directed learning and assessment time.  

Assessment

  • 25924 - Demonstrate knowledge of audit requirements in the certification of Halal food and food products
  • 29088 - Produce Halal dairy products

Note: For each credit allow around 10 hours of learning.  

Pre and/or Post course Learning 

Theory assessment to be completed on-course.   

Entry Requirements 

A good understanding of the hazards to food safety, the food sector (including regulatory requirements), and the products/ processes of the participant’s company is advised.

Trainees must be employed or have been previously employed in the industry for a minimum of six months in roles with responsibility for developing, implementing or auditing HACCP plans; supervising production or processing (key decision-makers); quality control and/or quality assurance.

English Proficiency

All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or higher to be eligible to attend the courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to this entry requirement. 

Please note that evidence of English language proficiency is exempt for those trainees whose enrolment has been organised, paid or required by their employer.
